Thriving in your Business and Personal Life
Over the last couple of months, I have been a road trip presenting my Step IN to your Confidence keynote to Origin Energy staff in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane.
Wow, what a ride it has been!
Meeting so many people in each place and the difference in participation levels was interesting and on hindsight very reflective of the Manager meetings I had in each State.
In the presentation, I gave tips on How they could Step IN to their Confidence to thrive in both their business and personal lives. No rocket science, just good old Confidence 101 lessons that everyone could do (things I practice myself!) to move them forward in both good times and challenging ones.
I taught them my “Step In” process, which has helped me through the ups and downs life has inevitably dealt me during my lifetime.
After speaking with the Managing Director (now the CEO) and the General Manager of People & Culture to get the background of what they wanted to achieve and the conversations I had with participating managers, it showed that unfortunately sometimes the vision from the top is not related down the ranks.
Like most companies, communication of a message often gets diluted once it moved from the Head Office. The great thing is, Origin are passionate about their vision and are very committed to offering flexibility to everyone throughout the organisation and encouraging women to Step IN to new roles (hence my invitation to speak).
They have purchased a 12-month Corporate membership to the Self Confident Women eLibrary to offer every woman the opportunity to develop themselves in areas they feel they need a boost of confidence in – http://www.selfconfidentwomen.com.au/project-view/emotional-intelligence-your-career-how-eq-is-the-new-iq.
I’m expecting great things to happen at Origin Energy and I will watch them with interest as I stay involved with the company over the next 12 months or so.
What are the plans for your company in the next 12 months and beyond?
Are the employees getting the same message, which is being delivered, from the top of your organisation? Are your staff confident to take on the challenges ahead? Do they have a structure to cope – particularly when research shows that 61% of the population are uncomfortable with change unless rolled out in a calm and logical way.
Love to hear your feedback and if you would like to discuss what I could do to assist your organisation, feel free to contact me directly.
Until next time.
